Improving Efficiency, Fourth Edition

Now that you have completed your work on Improving Efficiency, let us review our workbook objectives.
You should be better able to recognize what efficiency means, in the context of your workplace.
Defining the word 'efficiency' is not difficult. The definition we used was: 'making the best use of resources, to achieve production of goods or services'. What is more relevant is how you view efficiency, now that you have finished the workbook, in relation to your resources and work processes.
Try to explain what you have learned, by answering the following questions.
What inefficiencies have I identified in the way I and my team operate?

What are the effects of these inefficiencies on the organization as a whole?

You will be better able to identify and use some method study techniques to help you improve efficiency and effectiveness.
You may not want to claim that you have become a method study expert as a result of reading this workbook, but you should have a better understanding of the techniques which might be available to you. All of these require the full commitment of higher management, and you would no doubt need to obtain approval before introducing any of them in your area.
Which of the techniques described in Session C do you feel would be useful in your work situation?
