Acid Brush | Acid brushes have bristles that are corrosion resistant and are suitable for handling acids. They are either disposable or require frequent rinsing.
Belt Brush | Belt brushes have bristles or filaments mounted to the exterior of the belt, which can be a v-belt, toothed belt, flat belt, or other type of belt. Brush belts are typically mounted to two or more rollers, such as a contact wheel and idler wheel.
Block / Pad | Abrasive pads or blocks consist of abrasive grain adhered onto the surface of a cloth, film, paper, non-woven, or other backing usually with a die cut square or rectangular shape. Hand pads may have a round or contoured shape. Hand pads, blocks, or sticks usually are thicker than an abrasive sheet and often have an integral loop or handle to help the user hold and use the pad. Block brushes consist of a brush core, handle or backing with a series of holes with hold tufts. Tufts are bunches of bristles, filaments or wires (brush fill). The size and spacing of the tufts can be varied depending on the specific application. The space between the tufts provides clearance for the removal of dirt, scale, rust or other debris removed by the tufts. Paint pads are absorbent pads that can be used to create texture patterns, or fill paint or coatings in hard to reach areas.
Cup Brush | Cup brushes have bristles that are oriented perpendicular to the mounting plate, forming a cup-shaped brush. They are typically used with an angle grinder to clean flat surfaces.
Cylinder / Roller Brush | Roller brushes have bristles or filaments extending radially from the outer diameter of a central cylindrical hub. Examples include paddle wheel cylinder, spiral wound - core mounted, spiral wound - radial coil / wound strip. Coating rollers or paint rollers consist of cylindrical tubes covered with fiber, filament, and sponge or foam material. Coating rollers are rotated over a surface transferring paint, primer, or other coatings to the substrate.
Disc Brush | Disc brushes have bristles mounted to a cylindrical plate. The full plate of bristles allows you to cover large surface areas where cleaning, deburring, or other brushing actions are required.
End Brush | End brushes or stem brushes have bristles that are mounted parallel to the bore or shaft, and extend off the end of the brush.
Flare Brush | Flare brushes have cable or twisted filaments with hard faced prongs or balls at the end. They are used for removing rust, carbon, or slag.
Micro / Miniature Brush (Instrument) | Instrument, part or miniature and micro brushes are used for precision or fine cleaning and brushing applications.
Plater Brush | Plater brushes are densely filled with a fine metal wire fill material to avoid scratching before or after plating.
Power / Rotary Brush (Wheel, Roller) | Power or rotary brushes are designed to be mounted to an electrical or pneumatic component, and are rotated at high speeds.
Scratch / Toothbrush | Scratch brushes are a common type of wire brush that are used to scrape surfaces or remove waste products, scale, or corrosion. Toothbrush style brushes have a long handle with short brush length and short trim length.
Scrub / Washout | Scrub or washout brushes have short stiff bristles and are used for heavy cleaning applications.
Strip Brush | Strip brushes are narrow, elongated brushes that are used universally for many different applications. Strip brushes are used to fabricate brush seals or weatherstripping. Strip brushes are mounted onto roller-shaped cores to form cylindrical roller brushes. Conductive strip brushes are also mounted over a conveyor belt to continuously remove debris and dissipate static charges.
Spiral / Twisted-in-Wire (Tube) | Twisted-in-wire brushes have bristles mounted to and extending radially from a center twisted wire. According to Gordon Brush Mfg. Co., Inc., "A twisted in wire brush is known by many names, such as spiral, tube, flue, bottle, pipe, boiler or power brushes."
Welder Brush | Welder brushes have a configuration useful for cleaning welds, electrical contacts or electrodes, and welding gun tips. Welder brushes typically consist of a scratch brush with wire fill. Some welder brushes may have integral chipping hammers or scrapers for the removal of slag and scale.

Steel | Steel is an iron alloy that contains carbon in any amount up to about 1.7 percent as an essential alloying constituent. It is malleable when under suitable conditions, and is distinguished from cast iron by its malleability and lower carbon content. Steel as very good strength and toughness for most applications. Certain steel alloys can be strengthened through work hardening or heat treating. Steels are not as corrosion resistant as stainless steels. Therefore, a different fill material (stainless, brass, synthetic) may be desirable in wet or damp applications. Coatings or brass plating can also enhance corrosion resistance.
Stainless Steel | Stainless steel is chemical and corrosion resistant. Ferritic and austenitic stainless steel alloys can be strengthened by work hardening, but they are not heat treatable. Stainless steel consists of iron, at least 12% chromium, and usually some nickel or manganese additions.
Brass / Bronze | Brass comes with good strength, excellent high temperature ductility and reasonable cold ductility, good conductivity, excellent corrosion resistance, good bearing properties, and low magnetic permeability. Brass is a copper alloy using zinc additions. Bronze is the generic term for copper-based alloys with significant alloying additions. Many different types of bronzes are available such as tin bronze, silicon bronze, and aluminum bronze.
Specialty Blend / Other | Other unlisted, specialty, or proprietary materials or blends of metal wire, abrasive, natural fiber and/or synthetic filaments.

Wet / Waterproof | Waterproof abrasive products are designed or suitable for grinding using a water or water-oil coolant mixture.
Material Removal / Roughing (Coarse Grits / Filaments) | Material removable or roughing applications typically use coarse grit abrasive products designed for heavy cutting or material removal applications.
Blending / Intermediate Cutting (Medium Grits / Filaments) | Blending or intermediate cutting abrasive products are used for removing parting lines, seams, or other significant surface imperfections. Medium or medium-fine grit products are typically used for light cutting or intermediate material removal applications.
Cleanroom / Heat Tolerant | Cleanroom and heat tolerant products are used to clean or remove contaminants from surfaces of critical parts such as wafers, storage discs or other electronic components, biotechnology devices, or pharmaceutical equipment parts. The smallest amount of remaining contaminants on the surface can result in a defect causing the scrapping of the products. The heat tolerant nature of the brushes allow the brushes to be subjected to high temperature cleaning for removing contaminants that would otherwise influence the critical cleaning application.
