Custom Products

Shanghai Optics offers custom manufacturing for these products:

Achromats

An achromatic lens, often called an achromat, is a type of optical lens capable of correcting chromatic aberration, a distortion that occurs when glass splits white light into multiple color wavelengths in the spectrum. (read more)

Microscope Lenses and Objectives

Check out our latest Deep Dive into Optics blog post about objective lenses! (read more)

We offer a wide range selection of Standard Objective Lenses with magnification from 2× NA 0.1 to 100× NA 1.25. (read more)

Optical Lenses

An inside look at how Shanghai Optics engineers measure transmittance using a Spectrophotometer. (read more)

In theory, the entire lens would be up to the qualifications set by the customer. After all, if a customer ordered a 150mm lens, the whole 150mm lens should be up to specification… right? Wrong. (read more)

Manufacturing optical tolerances are important factors that impact both performance and cost of an optical component or system. Optical components commonly require tighter optical tolerances than mechanical components. (read more)

During the manufacturing process, a lower quality surface near the edge of an optical component is created. (read more)

Shanghai Optics is proud to announce that we are ISO 13485:2016 certified, an internationally recognized Quality Management System for medical devices manufacturing, that ensures our products and services meet the needs of our customers' standards and regulations. (read more)

Shanghai Optics relies on over 60 years of design and manufacturing experience and advanced metrology to provide our customer with world class lens design and manufacturing services. (read more)

Optical Prisms

To start, light travels as a transverse wave, meaning that its direction of vibration is perpendicular to the direction of propagation. While we indicate the direction of propagation with an arrow, light is in fact oscillating perpendicular to the direction of propagation. (read more)

Polarizing Cube Beamsplitters

Now that we have explored light waves, we can dive more in depth into polarization. In how to describe light, we mentioned that sunlight is a form of unpolarized light or natural light. (read more)
