The Ross Miles Foam Analyzer - RMFA is the world''s first instrument for automatic measurements of foamability and foam stability in accordance with ASTM D 1173. The RMFA uses standardized vessels in a newly-developed measuring setup for electronic, optical foam height detection. Measuring the initial foam height does not have to be coordinated with the discharge of the reservoir solution anymore, but is registered electronically. Thanks to narrowly observed measuring times as per Ross-Miles of one, three, and five minutes and a height resolution of 0.4 mm, analyses in accordance with ASTM D 1173 achieve precision that was previously unheard of.

With ADVANCE, you can get the maximum of information from a wetting process without having to care about starting a measurement at the right time. The background recording automatically saves everything that happens in the video image in a comfortably wide time range. After pausing the recording, you can go back in time to cut out and analyze the interesting part of the background video. When changing the time range to be analyzed, ADVANCE keeps the previous results and just adds the newly selected video frames to save you time. It is also possible to set the timer to zero for a certain point in time, e. g. to synchronize the time line with the contact between a drop and the surface. This makes it possible to examine time-dependent wetting behavior very precisely.
Surface free energy (SFE) determination used to be time-consuming, having to dose drops of at least two liquids, to measure their contact angles and then to calculate the SFE. ADVANCE carries out all these steps fully automatically within just one second, using our Liquid Needle dosing technology. After a push of a button, drops of two liquids are dosed and recorded in parallel, followed by precise image analysis and SFE calculation. The method is available for our hand-held Mobile Surface Analyzer - MSA and also for our stationary Drop Shape Analyzers.
The video image of a drop is the basic raw data resource of a drop shape analysis. ADVANCE makes it very easy to access the corresponding image for each result by just clicking it in the result list or the graphical representation. The fitting method used to determine the contact angle can be changed very quickly either for one item, a selected range, or even the complete list of results. This is of great help, for example, when the contact angle range of a sample is unknown before the measurement and the optimal fitting method has to be selected subsequently.
