Compared to ultrasonic measuring instruments, radar sensors are insensitive to contamination. In many applications, sensors struggle with buildup. Especially with ultrasonic sensors, this influences the reliability of the measurement signal and increases the dead zone. Thanks to optimized signal processing, radar sensors can suppress interference caused by buildup on the antenna system.
With the new pressure switches, VEGA completes their sensor portfolio and becomes a complete supplier for pressure instrumentation. Thanks to the 360° switching status indication, all switching states can be visually detected from any direction. The colour of the illuminated ring remains clearly visible even in daylight, also because it can be freely selected from over 256 colours.
Due to the process, flooding of the sensors occurs in some applications. Ultrasonic sensors are therefore often protected by mechanical flooding sleeves. However, such components can easily become contaminated and impair the reliability of the measurement. Radar sensors have no dead zone, do not require protective sleeves and measure reliably even in case of flooding.
For level and pressure measuring sensors as well as level switches, VEGA offers a standardized hygienic adapter concept that is EG 1935/2004, FDA, EHEDG and 3-A compliant. Whether metallically sealing or with O-ring seal: The sensors fit all standard hygienic fittings and are thus ideally suited for use in food production and the pharmaceutical industry.
