Survivable Remote Office VoIP Solutions
VoIP implementations to remote offices pose challenges for enterprises and
service providers deploying VoIP to customer premises. How to connect legacy analog

announced a new Survivable Tenor "S" to address these remote-office
implementation issues. Quintum's new
Survivable Tenor "S" VoIP products simplify branch office VoIP deployments by
providing survivability for remote office phones in the event of IP network failure.
It integrates legacy analog devices and provides PSTN connectivity for local presence
and emergency services.

Keyence
Clear, Accurate YAG Laser Marking on Irregular or Curved Surfaces
The industry's deepest focal depth of ±0.28 in. (±7 mm) provides
superior printing on metals and high-density plastics, even on irregular or curved
surfaces. The Keyence
MD-H9800 air-cooled, dust-proof YAG
Laser Marker produces five times more beam power at the marking surface than
conventional YAG markers. A double dust-proof
structure ensures maintenance-free operation in production environments. The
air cooling system provides lower operating costs, smaller installation space,
and easier setup. The MD-H9800 does not require a water cooling system, ion-exchange
resin, filters, or consumables required by conventional YAG markers. Technical
details available here.

All Seals, Inc.
PermaGlyde
Friction can be an asset at times, but in general, it is a problem in most
sealing applications. Friction, torque, and wear problems can drastically reduce
efficiency and long life. All
Seals' PermaGlyde patented
process is ideal for any rubber component that is affected by contact with
a mating part. A special chemical flouronation process, applied under heat and
pressure to the parts, reduces breakaway friction, and increases
lubricity and tolerance to torque.
PermaGlyde
is superior to any coated or internally lubricated process.

Pros and Cons of Absolute vs. Incremental Rotary Encoders
"An incremental encoder simply generates pulses proportional to the position.
The principle of the incremental measuring system is the scanning of a line pattern
on a glass or plastic disc. An optoelectronic component converts the line pattern
(transparent or not transparent) into electronic pulses, e.g. transparent equals
5 V and not transparent equals 0 V. This reflects the binary value "1" and "0".
Depending on the direction of rotation, an electronic counter ads or subtracts
the signals while the disc is turning." Read
the article in its entirety.

Six Coins...
You have six coins with the following values (you live in a remote country, of course): 3 cents, 9 cents, 10 cents, 12 cents, 13 cents, and 14 cents. You use five of them to buy two articles. One costs twice as many cents as the other. What is the value of the coin you kept?
Read the answer and see what others had to say in CR4.
New Challenge:
John and Tom are four-wheeling in the desert. In the early afternoon, Tom notices
his four-wheeler has a radiator leak. To the southwest Tom spots some water. John
says they should make sure it's not a mirage before heading off in that direction.
Tom agrees and reaches into his pack for sunglasses. How will they determine whether
or not the water is a mirage?
