The Alfa Laval FrontLine Automatic range is the premier choice for demanding large-scale hygienic processes that require gentle, effective heating and cooling and superior cleanability. FrontLine Automatic is the preferred choice when increased throughput, higher heat recovery and small compact footprint are required.
The FrontLine Automatic is based on the premium FrontLine plate heat exchanger range, which is complemented by the standard BaseLine range.
These gasketed plate heat exchangers meet all sanitary standards and have these design features that contribute to highly efficient operation:
- Unique herringbone plate pattern with optimized pressing depths and plate material provides gentle, uniform heat transfer for sensitive food products.
- Small port holes and long, narrow plates facilitate quick and easy cleaning, usually at process ?ows.
- Integral glue-less gasket system made with FDA-compliant materials can operate at high pressures, are easy to maintain and have a long service life.
- Frames provide operation at pressures of up to 21 bar (290 psi) and are easy to disassemble to inspect, clean and service or to modify plate configuration.
- Connection plates with removable double-corner options for maximum process ?exibility.

Longer operating times, easy cleaning
FrontLine Automatic plates feature excellent press depths and relatively few contact points, which prolong operating times and enhance hygiene. In addition, the unique distribution area ensures a uniform flow over the entire plate surface.
Easy to clean, easy to monitor
Fully CIPable, FrontLine Automatic gasketed plate heat exchangers are easier to maintain with straightforward gaskets and closures to facilitate inspection and cleaning time. The FrontLine Automatic has a PLC-based control system with a programmable interface utilizing standard Allen Bradley/Rockwell components. This simplifies monitoring and control.
FrontLine plate heat exchanger range
The Alfa Laval FrontLine Automatic series is available in two sizes:
- FrontLine 10 Automatic, which is ideal for pasteurization, with capacities of up to 150 GPM for general milk pasteurization.
- FrontLine 15 Automatic for capacities up to 12,000 GPM for heavy demands of cheese milk pasteurization. The series has a mechanical design pressure of 200 psi and operating temperature of 302°F.
For your convenience, Alfa Laval supplies FrontLine 15 Automatic as three pre-configured plate heat exchangers with standard 375-, 550- or 700-piece plate packs. Customized units are available upon request.
