Stage 2 is a five micron coconut shell Carbon Block filter that provides a reduction of chlorine, chloramine and other materials that cause bad taste and odors. Stage 3 is an additional five micron coconut shell Carbon Block filter which provides a greater reduction of chlorine and chloramines (these are called PRE-filters because they filter in front of the reverse osmosis membrane). Stage 4 is the heart of the reverse osmosis system, the RO Membrane. This semi permeable membrane is 1/10,000 of a micron and will effectively reduce TDS (total dissolved solids), Sodium and a wide range of contaminants such as Arsenic, Lead, Percolate, Chromium, Copper and Radium. It will also remove over 99.95% cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Stage 5 is a high quality GAC final filter (this is called a final filter because it filters after the membrane). This filter a final polishing filter that is used as the water is leaving the storage tank on it's way up to the faucet. The end result? Great tasting water!

The larger production membrane of this state of the art system also means this system has been designed to reduce Nitrates and Nitrites from your drinking water. It is important that this system is properly installed and maintained with a minimum incoming water pressure of 40 psi for it to operate as designed. Stage 4 is a high quality Carbon filter (this is called a POST-filter because it filters after the membrane). The filtered water passes through the membrane and enters the storage tank. The Zero Waste Reverse Osmosis Retrofit Kit is a great way to convert your existing Reverse Osmosis system into an efficient water saving device. By adding this kit to your existing RO system, you can save hundreds of gallons of water every year. The system works by redirecting the rinse water. This kit pumps the rinse water into the hot water side of your water supply instead of down the drain. With the use of the supplied 24 volt pump, your hot water supply will accept the rinse water and mix with the hot water. This process can be done because when you use your hot water under normal circumstances, the water coming from your hot water side is not used for cooking or drinking. Also by adding this kit to your existing RO system, you will be able to increase the membrane production and fill the storage tank faster.
