The EX1402 adds isolation and high-speed measurement capability to the popular EX1400 Series of instruments, an advanced, full-featured data acquisition family designed to acquire precision data from voltage sensors. The EX1402 delivers accurate and highly repeatable voltage measurements by implementing fully integrated signal conditioning, 24-bit ADC’s, on a per-channel basis.

With industry-leading sample rates of 128 kSa/s/channel, the EX1402 is well-suited for a wide range of applications that require maximum accuracy, flexible sampling rates, and protection against damaging voltage levels. Enhanced power options, including AC, DC, and PoE+, adapt to virtually any application requirement while the stand-alone data logging and parallel data streaming capabilities break new ground for performance and flexibility.

OVERVIEW
The EX1401 delivers accuracies of ±0.20°C, 1000 V channel-channel isolation, built-in self-test capabilities, and independent 24-bit ADC’s per channel. Its ability to acquire data at 20K samples/second/channel allows its usage in high-speed temperature transient applications. Deploy it in a variety of applications, including automotive and battery testing, jet engine testing, highly accelerated life test/highly accelerated stress screening (HALT/HASS), and health monitoring. It can be used in any test environment that requires accurate temperature measurement and repeatability. Parallel data storage and standalone autonomous operating modes further expand the utility of this versatile instrument.
UNPARALLELED SIGNAL QUALITY
AMETEK VTI Instruments builds its test and measurement equipment on the idea that a test and measurement system is only as good as the signals it receives. The EX1401 offers fully integrated signal conditioning, including independent Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) that is implemented on a per channel basis. Open Thermocouple Detection (OTD) further enhances signal quality.
An industry-standard LXI interface allows the EX1401 to be distributed and positioned close to the device-under-test, reducing the implementation and support costs associated with long cable lengths. That also reduces transducer cable lengths along with associated coupled EMI interference, helping to improve measurement accuracy. In addition, the instrument features a comprehensive, built-in self-test function that reports instrument status and problems, maximizing run-time performance.
POWER OVER ETHERNET (PoE)
Unlike other thermocouple and voltage measurement instruments, the EX1401 offers PoE+ and flexible DC power options for portable applications. Fully isolated channels, with up to 1000 V channel-channel isolation, deliver both power and data on one cable. Simply place the instrument anywhere in the test chamber, or around the test article, and connect to the network.
SIGNAL SYNCHRONIZATION
The EX1401 also supports IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), allowing customers to synchronize measurements from many devices throughout the test application.
EASY-TO-USE SOFTWARE
A full-featured embedded web interface provides configuration and data displays, simplifying setup and usage. EXLab Express, VTI’s intuitive data acquisition software, is included with each instrument, eliminating the need for programming.

BUILT IN COLD JUNCTION COMPENSATION (CJC) AND OPEN THERMOCOUPLE DETECTION (OTD)
The heart of any truly accurate thermocouple measurement system is the CJC implementation. These instruments combine multiple precision thermistors, a significant thermal mass, and careful parts placement to provide world-class measurement performance. Each temperature channel is configured with open transducer detection functionality, providing a continuous indication of the channel status. Open transducer detection can be activated or deactivated on a per-channel basis.
END-TO-END SELF-CALIBRATION
Complete end-to-end self-calibration is provided for each signal path on a programmable basis. Self-calibration is simple and quick, and can be performed as often as desired.
SCALABLE FOR SYNCHRONIZED HIGH-SPEED, HIGH CHANNEL COUNT
With LXI complaint features like a built-in Trigger BusTM hardware trigger subsystem and IEEE-1588 time-stamping, the EX1048A supports simplified distribution, synchronization and scalability for high-channel count applications.
