USES
Molykote® 321 Dry Film Lubricant is designed for use on parts that are
inaccessible for lubrication after assembly; require a dry, thin lubricating film;
or normally experience high initial wear on running-in new or rebuilt equipment. It has also been successfully used in a variety of metal-working applications. Molykote 321 Dry Film Lubricant can be used on:

• Cutting tools – broaches, gear cutters, milling cutters, taps, drills, reamers, chasers, punches, etc.
• Railroad pins – brake pins and levers, roll stabilizer pins, trip pivots, eccentric bolts
• Splines, threaded connections, disconnects
• Aircraft engines for air foil lubrication
• Instruments operating in unusual environments, such as in a vacuum, near radiation or in extreme low or high temperatures
• Metal forming
• Aluminum to aluminum and aluminum to steel surfaces

Extreme-pressure lubricant for assembly, press fitting, threaded connections, running-in and maintenance

Applications

Molykote® G-n Metal Assembly Paste lubricates surfaces subjected to extreme pressures. Specific applications include:

• Running-in lubricant - for new or rebuilt equipment, such as gears, splines, journal bearings, cams and ways
• Metalworking - helps prevent galling, welding and metal pickup on tools and dies in machining, stamping, and drawing operations, tube bending, thread rolling, cold heading, swaging and forging
• Assembly lubricant - reduces torque in tightening threaded fasteners and tension variation from bolt to bolt; eases disassembly and reduces chance of damage
• Helps prevent fretting wear and corrosion, and cold welding of bearing shafts, bushings and splines
• Press-fitting lubricant - allows press fitting without chatter or stick-slip in most cases; reduces the force required for interference fitting and minimizes distortion

Extreme-pressure, dry film lubricant provides exceptional release and lubricating properties

Molykote® 557 Silicone Dry Film Lubricant is:

• An extreme-pressure lubricant with exceptional release properties for cutting and forming metals, and with lubricating properties for heavily loaded tracks, cams, slides, etc.
• Colorless in thin films
• Nonstaining to paper or fabrics

The solvent evaporates after application, leaving a nearly transparent, thin film. This lubricant film begins to melt at 32°C (90°F) and adheres tenaciously to most surfaces, whether in a solid or fluid state.

APPLICATIONS
Molykote® 557 Silicone Dry Film Lubricant can be used:

• In steel production where it can increase slitter-blade life, resulting in clean, square edges
• In aluminum production where it can lengthen the life of tools and dies, improve surface finish, lubricate sliding surfaces and surfaces during extruding, deep drawing or spinning
• In machine shops where it can improve surface finishes; extend the life of cutting tools, taps, dies, drills, slitters, and forming tools; reduce wear and reduce stick-slip or metal seizure on bearings, slides, cams adjusting screws, guides and ways
• For textile, paper and woodworking industries where it can reduce wear and friction and reduce product staining from spinning frames, knives, scissors, punches, chain, conveyors or material-handling equipment
• For rubber and plastic industries where it can reduce sticking, pickup or product contamination from handling equipment, knives, conveyors or sliding surfaces

Solid lubricating paste with particularly low friction coefficient for assembly and running-in of metallic components

Applications

• Suitable for the press-fit production of all types of machine elements, as a running-in lubricant for new machines and gears, as permanent lubrication of machine elements which are submitted to slight or intermittent movement only, as well as for drilling, sawing and thread-cutting.
• Used to lubricate threaded spindles, splined shafts, tooth gearing, worm gearing, moving screws, fittings, pumps, guides on machine tools, as well as for fitting ball and roller bearings, pulleys, wheel flanges and bolts.

Solid lubricating paste for hot forming of metals

APPLICATIONS

• Suitable for the lubrication of tools for hot forming, particularly on hot-flow presses and drop forging, also as a parting agent and slip additive at high temperatures.
• Used successfully for the hot bending of flat steel St 37 or St 70, the rolling of the ends of vehicle leaf-springs, folding of sheet metal edges, hot rolling of cutters, and drop forging of flywheels made from St 37, as well as for the lubrication of separator plates on chipboard presses.
