CHALLENGE
Our client had successfully displaced old hydro-electric power steering systems with many of their customers, introducing an EPS Rack Concentric system instead that used Isabellenhütte terminal resistors. Subsequently, one of the OEMs major customers experienced solder-joint cracks during temperature cycling tests.

SOLUTION
After discussion with both our client and their large customer, our team recommended a four terminal raised shunt design, which better fit the new DCB substrate being used.
We developed a new part (BVN) markedly improved, the performance of the current measurement and simultaneously solved the cracking issue, (due to temperature and load cycling).
