Switches Unlimited has announced the release of the new Macromatic PMP-X Series Three-Phase Monitor Relays. This new series of Macromatic relays are designed to provide cost-effective protection against premature failures caused by phase reversal, phase loss, undervoltage, overvoltage and phase unbalance in three-phase systems. Besides being used for signaling separate PLC, SCADA or alarm circuits, the second contact on these new models can help control secondary loads.

Macromatic’s newest three-phase monitor relay features true RMS voltage measurements for improved protection regardless of load type or wave shape. The full status LED retains any fault indications and continues monitoring all the voltages, even with a phase loss.

This new series controls more loads with wider voltage ranges, higher current range and with a wider variety of ratings. The series also offers a complete range of line-to-line voltages up to 600V and are all offered in an industry standard 8-pin plug-in. These three-phase monitor relays are available with plug-in or Din-rail enclosures. The relays are compatible with most Wye or Delta systems with no connection to neutral required. The PMP Series, with plug-in enclosures, use standard 8-pin octal sockets. They also have a wide universal voltage range for use in more global applications.

When the proper 3-phase line voltage is applied to the unit and the phase sequence (rotation) is correct, the relay is energized after the Restart Delay is completed and any one of five fault conditions will de-energize the relay after a delay. As standard, re-energization will be automatic following the correction of the initial fault condition.
