About Conveyor Components

Conveyor components are parts and accessories for industrial conveyors, machines that transport bulk materials at a controlled rate. They are used to build new systems, modify existing equipment, or improve conveyor performance. There are many different types of conveyor components. Conveyor type is the most important specification to consider. Maximum load is also an important consideration. In terms of features, some conveyor components are made of anti-static materials that prevent the build-up or discharge of an electrical field. Others are designed to move corrosive or hazardous materials. Sanitary and washdown-capable conveyor components are also available. Typically, sanitary products meet requirements from regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Conveyor components include buckets, chains, cleaners, drives, gates, idlers, rails, rollers, screws, seals, and vibrators. Conveyor buckets are made of metal or plastic and used to move material from one location to another. Conveyor chains are roller chains with application-specific attachments. Conveyor cleaners use physical or non-contact methods to clean belts and chains. Conveyor drives couple an electric motor to a gear unit (gearmotor) with an application-specific attachment such as a belt pulley. Conveyor gates provide a passageway for personnel and lift trucks. Conveyor idlers are angled belt supports that keep material on the conveyor. Conveyor rails are conveyor components that support the surface under the wheels or rollers of a chain conveyor. Conveyor rollers require support at both ends. Conveyor screws move material from inlet to discharge on screw conveyors. They use many flight and pitch configurations and can be fabricated from a variety of materials. Conveyor seals prevent the loss of material from the edges of conveyors. Conveyor vibrators are used to promote the flow of dry, bulk solids material along a process line.

Air Conveyors
Air conveyors are devices that use airflow to move items or media. Products include air tables, pneumatic tube conveyors, and vacuum conveyors.
Bulk Handling Conveyors
Bulk handling conveyors carry materials such as grain, coal, pellets or any other powder, granular or bulk media.
Industrial Conveyors
Industrial conveyors are horizontal, inclined, declined, or vertical machinery that transports bulk materials or discrete units from one place to another at a controlled rate.
Unit Handling Conveyors
Unit handling conveyors are designed to handle packages, pallets, or any other unit format. They are used to transport large, discrete items that can be handled independently.
Vertical Conveyors
Vertical conveyors are used to lift or lower loads between various levels in intermittent flow operations and where horizontal space is limited.  There are two types of vertical conveyors, reciprocating and continuous.
