Durometer Type
ASTM D2240 Type      The ASTM D2240 standard covers type A, B, C, D, DO, and OO durometers. The most popular durometers are the types A and D. Very soft materials are rated on the Shore OO scale. Rubber and polyurethane are rated on the Shore A scale and hard materials are rated on the Shore D scale. There is some overlap between scales, so a material may be rated on more than one scale.
   Your choices are...
Type A       Type A durometers include soft rubber, elastomers, waxes, and printing rollers.
Type B       Type B durometer types include rubber and elastomers.
Type C       Type C durometers include medium-hard rubber and plastics.
Type D       Type D durometers include hard rubber and plastics.
Type DO       Type DO durometers include dense textile winding and medium printing rollers.
Type O       Type O durometers include soft printing rollers and textile windings.
Type OO       Type OO durometers include sponge rubber and very soft rubber.
Type OOO       Type OOO durometers include very soft materials and open cell foam.
Other       Other, ASTM D2240 type durometer.

JIS Type C       JIS type C refers to semi-hard rubber or plastic.
IRHD       ASTM D1415 refers to the difference in penetration fewer than two conditions. Small initial force and larger terminal force.
SL / Foam Rubber       Foam and Sponge Rubber.
   CF       Composite Foam.
