Overview

Humidity is difficult to measure. This webinar is designed to help engineers get better humidity measurements through a better understanding of the parameter. If you understand the theory behind humidity, you will have less frustration and higher confidence in your measurement.

During the webinar, you'll learn about the basic science behind measuring humidity. We'll define the most common parameters used to determine water vapor content in gases including relative humidity, vapor pressure, dew point temperature, mixing ratio, parts per million, and wet bulb temperature.

Attendees will learn how temperature and pressure affect some parameters and not others. We'll help you evaluate your application to decide what parameter is best suited to your particular humidity measurement situation. We'll offer some tips on how to use this knowledge to help you make a better measurement of humidity.

Key Takeaways

  • Learn the fundamentals of humidity theory to support better measurement
  • Know the different terms used to define the amount of water vapor present in a gas
  • Find out which term or parameter is best for your application
  • Know how to make a better measurement of humidity by understanding the effects of temperature and pressure

Speakers

Bruce McDuffee, Marketing Director, Rotronic Instrument Corporation

Bruce McDuffee has been teaching humidity theory and application classes for the past 12 years both in live seminar and virtual webinar environments. With a background in the practical application of relative humidity measurement, Bruce brings a unique perspective to the table combining practical hands-on experience in humidity measurement with the fundamental science of the measurement.

Michael Boetzkes, Metrologist, Rotronic Instrument Corporation

Michael Boetzkes is a Metrologist specializing in relative humidity and temperature measurement. He has been involved with manufacturing and calibration of Temperature and Relative Humidity measurement equipment for 19 years. Michael is an industry expert in the implementation and evaluation of ISO17025 accredited laboratories for humidity and temperature. He brings practical and theoretical experience to the audience around calibration process, and uncertainty budget evaluation. Michael has also presented relative humidity and calibration training sessions at NCSLi and MSC.
