Function Generators: Preset Frequency Selection
From B&K Precision

In test and design work where several frequencies are to be used repeatedly, it is convenient to be able to pre-select these frequencies with a minimum of effort. As shown in Fig. 18, the VCF feature of many function generators can be used together with preset voltages and a frequency selector switch.

1. Construct the circuit shown in Fig. 18. The voltage labeled +V should be a regulated voltage at or near the maximum safe input to the VCF input jack as recommended by the manufacturer. This limit indicates the voltage value required for maximum frequency spread on a given range. If applying a higher voltage, it will most likely damage the generator and usually will not provide greater frequency coverage.

Products & Services
Signal generators and waveform generators are used to test and align all types of transmitters and receivers, to measure frequency and to generate a signal, waveform or noise source. Signal generators can use AC energy, audio frequency (AF) and radio frequency (RF) to function.
Comb generators create harmonic frequencies from which one frequency can be selected with a narrow filter and filtered out.
Voltage-to-frequency converter chips provide a signal frequency output as a function of an analog input voltage.
Underwater acoustic transducers contain both transmitters and receivers and use distance and directional data for communication, mapping and navigation.
RF phase shifters are twin-ported devices that alter the phase of an output signal in response to an external signal.
