Encoders for Brushless Motor Commutation

From Renco Encoders, Inc.

The process of steering current through the appropriate motor windings in order to produce output torque is called commutation. In brush motors, commutation is accomplished electro-mechanically via brushes and the commutator. In brushless motors, commutation is performed by electronically steering the motor to the appropriate winding.

Products & Services
Incremental rotary encoders are multi-turn sensors that use optical, mechanical, or magnetic index-counting for angular measurement. They contain no absolute reference, but instead count relative to the turn-on position. Search by Specification | Learn more about Incremental Rotary Encoders
