Most fiberoptic lightsources use an MR16 quartz halogen projector lamp. You can get more life from these lamps if you run them below full voltage (at a lower intensity). How much more life depends on the amount of voltage. Life is expressed in mean hours. The actual result for any particular lamp may vary. Use this reference to help plan your maintenance and get the most from your lightsource. Works with any lightsource brand using EKE, DDL, or EJA Quartz Halogen lamps. Halogen lamps are high pressure incandescent lamps containing halogen gases such as iodine or bromine, which allow the filaments to be operated at higher temperatures and higher efficacies.
Lighting fixtures and lamp sockets produce artificial light in industrial areas or workspaces, and mechanically hold and electrically connect lamp bulbs to wiring.
High intensity discharge lamps (HID) contain compact arc tubes, which enclose various gases and metal salts, operating at relatively high pressures and temperatures. HID lamps are often used as UV light sources.
LED lamps are light emitting diode arrays with traditional lamp ballasts.
Projection lamps use a built-in reflector to concentrate light in a particular direction. They are used in applications such as slide projection, microfilm, overhead projection, movies, medical / scientific instruments, airport runways, and others.
