Sometimes it's important to know how many fibers exist in a bundle. From a production perspective, this knowledge allows us to size the bundle on the drum, as it's made... maintaining consistency... minimizing cost. If you're calculating fiber with integral buffer and/or jacket, the total diameter, including buffer/jacket should be used. Light guides conduct the flow of light from a light source to a point of use in areas that are too small or too hazardous to permit the installation of a light bulb. There are two basic types of light guides: liquid and fiber optic.
