MCSA/MCSE Exam 70-292: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSE Certified on Windows 2000 Study Guide

Appendix A: MCSA Command-Line Reference

Introduction

Appendix A provides additional information and can be used as a reference for the command-line utilities we have discussed in the book. Appendix A should not be considered an exhaustive reference by any means, but rather a convenient and more detailed resource for the command-line utilities.

Some of the largest improvements for administrators from Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003 are the significant enhancements that have been made in command-line utility functionality.

The commands discussed in Appendix A are arranged by their usage. For example, you will find commands relating to Active Directory and DNS management, rather than commands for Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and so forth. If you require additional information on a command that is included in Appendix A, we recommend you use the built-in help system of Windows Server 2003 to locate the required information.

Note

Anytime you have blank spaces in an entry, such as West Region Sales, you must place the entire entry in quotation marks such as CN=West Region Sales,DC=corp,_DC=mcsaworld,DC=com . This is done to ensure that Windows properly parses the command and produces the desired output.
