Surface Hardening

Surface hardening processes include ion implantation, diffusion surface treatment processes such as (carburizing, nitriding or Kolsterising®), and localized or induction surface heatment. Surface hardening processes are well suited for improving the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of selected areas of machines, such as the cutting edges of earth-moving machinery. Hardfacing is a coating or depostion process that can also produce hard or hardenable surface layers by welding materials with different properties to a substrate.

Products & Services
Finishing and surface treatment services pretreat or finish the surfaces of manufactured components to meet roughness or surface condition requirements. Search by Specification | Learn more about Finishing and Surface Treatment Services
Cladding and hardfacing services apply a thick layer of a metal or alloy to the surface of a base alloy to rebuild or repair the surface, or to impart special characteristics. Search by Specification | Learn more about Cladding and Hardfacing Services
Heat treating services perform thermal treatments to modify the properties of metals and metal alloys. Common processes include annealing, austempering, case hardening, conventional hardening, homogenizing, hot isostatic pressing (HIP), martempering, normalizing, precipitation hardening, shot peening, solution treating, spheroidizing, stabilizing, and stress relieving. Thin film coating services apply very thin layers of specialized materials to part surfaces. They perform processes such chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD), ion implantation, electrochemical deposition (ECD), plasma etching, rapid thermal processing (RTP), and titanium nitride coating. Search by Specification | Learn more about Thin Film Coating Services
Coating services coat or plate the surfaces of manufactured components. Coating processes include ceramic, coil, dip, dry lubricant, phosphate, powder, rubber, thin film, titanium, and selective coating. Coating services also perform chemical finishing, galvanizing, hardfacing, painting, thermal spraying, and screen printing. Search by Specification | Learn more about Coating Services
