Rust Preventative Coatings

Rust preventative coatings are designed to minimize rust or iron alloy corrosion when applied directly to ferrous metal such as carbon or alloy steels. They protect against rust by preventing moisture from reaching the metal or under lying substrate or by providing a sacrificial layer. Resin-based coatings are corrosion and chemically resistant and provide a barrier to protect the substrate. Zinc or aluminum rust preventative coatings provide a sacrificial layer that galvanicly protects the ferrous surface, even if the layer is breached in places. Zinc phosphate, barium metaborate and strontium chromate (all pigments) are common ingredients in corrosion-inhibitive coatings. These pigments absorb any moisture that enters the coating film. Lubricant, oil and grease coating provide a water repellent barrier, which inhibits corrosion.

Products & Services
Industrial coatings are thin films deposited upon materials to add or enhance desired properties, such as color, conductivity, corrosion resistance, etc.
Coating services coat or plate the surfaces of manufactured components. Coating processes include ceramic, coil, dip, dry lubricant, phosphate, powder, rubber, thin film, titanium, and selective coating. Coating services also perform chemical finishing, galvanizing, hardfacing, painting, thermal spraying, and screen printing.
Resurfacing, recoating and refinishing services alter or restore damaged coatings and surfaces to a usable condition.
Web coating services apply a layer of resin or other liquid coating to the surface of a continuous sheet of material.
Plating services apply a thin coating of metal to the surface of a substrate in order to improve conductivity, prevent rust and corrosion, and facilitate soldering. There are two basic plating techniques: electroplating and electroless plating.
