INTRODUCTION

In this part there are five areas of IT management that are considered in terms of key issues that are frequently encountered. For each issue, the following will be discussed.

  • Background. How the issue arises and its importance are covered here.

  • Impact. This is the effect on IT and management if the issue is not addressed.

  • Prevention. In some cases, you can act ahead of time to head off an issue and prevent it from occurring.

  • Detection. Tips are provided to help you detect signs that the issue is emerging.

  • Action. These are steps that can be taken to address the issue.

Note that an entire chapter could be written about each issue so that there is no goal of providing a complete discussion. Rather, the purpose is to provide you with ideas and insight so that you can identify and deal with issues in IT management more effectively.
