Reliable Precision For The Most Well-Hidden Corners

From SCHUNK Inc.

Regardless of their design sophistication, it is sometimes impossible to avoid creating hard-to-reach points on workpieces. In die construction, deep cavities are the order of the day. In mechanical engineering, slim ribs have to be milled on the workpiece or precise contours or fine holes have to be added to hard-to-reach points. The interference contours of proven toolholders quickly become knockout criteria in those cases: when space is limited, the point in question may be difficult to access without damaging the workpiece. In tool ginding, grinding wheels and bulky toolholders quickly find themselves on a collision course. All of these cases require slim toolholder systems with minimized interference contours. They have to penetrate into the most well-hidden corners, transmit sufficient torque and guarantee high precision at the same time.

Products & Services
Vises are used for work holding and during inspection, assembly, forming, welding, and machining operations. They usually consist of a screw, level, or cam-type mechanism that closes and holds two or more jaws around a workpiece Search by Specification | Learn more about Vises
Workholding components are precision-made production tooling used to safely and accurately position and hold work pieces during a production line process. Learn more about Workholding Components
Steady rests and follower rests are lathe accessories that hold a long workpiece steady during turning. Steady rests are mounted to the bed and do not move with the lathe. Follower rests attach to the saddle and move along with or follow the lathe. Learn more about Steady Rests and Follower Rests
Tool holders (toolholders) are the physical interface between tooling and the machine tool. They vary in terms of machine-mount styles and are designed to perform specific applications. Search by Specification | Learn more about Tool Holders
Chuck jaws are inserts that fit into a chuck and grip the workpiece. There are three types of chuck jaws: base jaws, hard jaws, and soft jaws. Search by Specification | Learn more about Chuck Jaws
