Tormach Tooling System Operation Manual
From tormach.com
TTS tool holders are designed to hold milling cutters, drills, and similar tooling in milling machine spindles. The tool holders consist of a 3/4” straight shank body with a precision ground shoulder designed to contact the spindle face. The tool holders are available in a variety of styles. TTS is intended for general purpose light machining operations. This brief manual reviews the unique properties of the Tormach Tooling System (TTS) and provides some suggestions for operation. It does not cover general machine shop practices. Operators should be versed in safe milling machine operations before attempting to use any milling machine. Tool holders by themselves are not dangerous, but the combination of a sharp cutting tool, a powerful machine, and an untrained or inattentive operator can be extremely dangerous. Users and operators are ultimately responsible for safe setup and operation. Wear safety glasses and observe safe shop practices at all times.

Products & Services
Tool holders (toolholders) are the physical interface between tooling and the machine tool. They vary in terms of machine-mount styles and are designed to perform specific applications.
Machining and multiple spindle heads are specialized tool holders that mount on machine tool spindles. Multi-spindle heads carry multiple tools at the same time for performing simultaneous machining operations.
Tool turrets are indexing tool holders for lathes, transfer machines, and other machine tools. They allow equipment to carry multiple cutting tools at one time and mount individual tools in the correct sequence.
Milling machines move a clamped workpiece into a fixed, rotating cutter; or move the cutter itself into a stationary workpiece. There are two basic configurations: vertical and horizontal.
Tool posts are used to hold cutting tools. They allow for rapid tool changeover and provide a high degree of position repeatability and indexing.
