Cell Master MT8212A T1 Measurements

From Anritsu Company

Cellular wireless telephony has expanded dramatically over the past ten years. Both the size and the number of service providers have increased. Technology has advanced with the expansion. The consumer sees his link to the network as his handset to the Base Transceiver Station. Service provider differentiation may have consisted mainly in user features and the ubiquity of service access - many BTS's. As service becomes more competitive, service quality and efficiency are becoming more important. Service providers have become experts in wireless technologies, transceivers, antennas and coverage maps. What may not always be acknowledged is the ever-expanding wired network supporting the wireless service. Most commonly the "backhaul" links connecting the BTS's to their Mobile Switching Centers (MSC) are based on wired DS1 (or T1) circuits. The quality of the service provided over those T1 lines has a direct effect on the quality of service experienced by the wireless service provider's customers. Call setup failures, dropped calls, data errors and noise can often be attributed to the T1 backhaul facilities.
