People who work at vertigo-inducing heights on window-washing platforms, risers, lift platforms and fire ladders want to be assured that the surface on which they stand is maintained at a safe and steady angle. This can be accomplished with special tilt and angle sensors – when the platform exceeds a predefined level, the sensors trigger an alarm or bring the positioning motors to a stop immediately. Based in Leutkirch, Germany, elobau manufactures a wide variety of machine sensors and other electrical components for safety engineering purposes. Tilt sensors, in particular, are used in almost all fields of machine and automotive engineering. These sensors are particularly valuable in safety-related applications such as raised work platforms where they constantly monitor the platform’s position and report any excessive tilt in order to trigger alarms and stop the motors or operate the brakes
