From globalspec.com
The base material in the joint is aluminium 5083 and the bolt/nut is made of A2 stainless steel. The bolt is special design for this application with a shaft of diameter 10mm and a thread of M8. Today the customer uses a spring washer, counter nut and Loctite 243. The company wants to investigate if a NL10ss washer will make the joint vibration proof. This test will not include a vibration test, since it is not possible to build in the application in our test rig. However, a functional test will be carried out, showing if the wedge locking effect of the NL washer will occur. In our test according to above specified conditions a wedge locking effect was achieved on both applications. The pre-specified torque of 10Nm was enough to create clear impression marks in both tests. For application one we recommend NL10ss with a torque of 10Nm. For application two we recommend NL8sp ss with a torque of 10Nm.
Products & Services
Washers are disks of metal or non-metallic material placed beneath a nut, an axle bearing, or a joint, to relieve friction, prevent leakage, isolate, prevent loosening, or distribute pressure.
