Backlighting Options

From Advanced Input Systems

Strategically placing lights inside an input device to illuminate the backs of keys and functions is a technique, referred to as backlighting. It makes keys and legends easier to read and products much more marketable. Careful consideration of the trade-offs between the different backlighting applications, the product in design, and environmental requirements are all crucial elements to the product's performance, reliability, and fitness for use. Simply stated, a backlit keypad is illuminated so that the foreground appears sharper in contrast with the background. The objective of backlighting technology is to achieve an optimum balance between light output, power dissipation, reliability, and operating life. A thorough understanding of the four main backlighting methods will help you select the right backlighting solution for your input device.

Products & Services
Trackballs are computer pointers resembling an inverted mouse. The pointing ball is rotated with the thumb, fingers, or the palm of the hand. Search by Specification | Learn more about Trackballs
Computer mice and pointing devices are used to control the screen-based movement of a cursor or icon on a visual computer. This category includes mice, trackballs, and touch pads. Search by Specification | Learn more about Computer Mice and Pointing Devices
Touch screen displays are user-friendly input devices. The user touches the screen and the input is communicated directly to the computer. Search by Specification | Learn more about Touch Screen Displays
