Tilter/Up-Ender Reduces Worker Fatigue and Potential Injuries While Reducing Packing Time

From American Lifts

Tilter/Up-Ender meets customer challenge. Large, heavy, custom wood cabinetry must be manually lifted, wrapped, and placed on a conveyor belt prior to shipping. This process originally required at least 2 men and carried potential for injury and fatigue. In response to this problem, a 90-degree tilter has been installed at the plant to make material handling and load positioning as safe and ergonomically sound as possible. The process begins with the tilter lowered and positioned horizontally. Protective wrapping materials are held in place using magnets as the operator smoothly raises the deck to an upright position. The cabinets are placed up against the retaining lip of the deck and are reclined to the horizontal position. Wrapping is then completed with the cabinet at hip-level thus reducing the potential for back strain. The tilter lip will flip down like a pickup truck tailgate for access to the bottom of the cabinet. Next, the cabinet is placed on a transfer cart at the same height as the deck and transferred to a conveyor line for final shipping preparations.
