Steel Core Shafts

From positech-solutions.com
Handling Procedure: Pick up a core shaft from a cart, transfer to the winder and place it between two winder drums. Also remove shaft from the unwind table and place onto the cart. PROBLEM: The core shafts are long and weigh 200 lbs. each. Two operators were required to handle them. Operators had to reach over the 37” tall front drum, reach into the winder 30” and place the shaft between the drums at 31” elevation. The finished drum surface can not be marred or scratched by the shaft. There is a crossbeam directly above the front drum at 109” and other obstructions outside the winder at 166” elevation, limiting the work area access. Several core shafts are placed on the cart, stacked on top and side by side of each other. No floor space is available. 80 P.S.I. compressed air is the only available energy source.
