Handling Description: Placing, pouring and removing hot molds.
Problem: Long reach-in, heavy parts and high temperatures were too much for the operators.
Controlled pour of material is necessary. Spilled material was very dangerous for the operators.
Requirements:
*?Molds weigh up to 100 lbs.
*?Customer-supplied end effector is 150 lbs.
*?Pickup height is 4" with the mold vertical.
*?Reach in from endjoint is 50".
*?Placement/pour height is 55" with the mold horizontal.
*?Restricted overhead clearance and various workcell obstructions.
Solution:
*?Manipulator model TPA-5 with 138" of reach, 500 lbs. tooling & payload capacity, 55" of vertical lift and 360 degrees main post rotation.
*?Operators Controls; Twist metering control, pushbutton grip/release, push-button rotate cw/ccw, emergency kill button, adjustable height T-bar and a steering assist handle.
*?Horizontal axis rotation endjoint.
*?190 degree powered parts rotator with adjustable flow controls.
*?Grip actuator with mounting flange for customer-supplied end effector.
*?High temperature modifications including Quintolubric fluid, high temperature hydraulic hose and fiberglass fire sleeves.
