Optimized Filters for DIN-Rail Mounting

From Schaffner EMC Inc.

Since the implementation of the European Directive 89/336/EEC dated 1992, we can no longer imagine appliances and control cabinets without components for the specific reduction of electromagnetic interference emission. In addition to an EMC conscious design and writing on the complete equipment, the use of suitable mains suppression filters is a further key measure within the framework of a complete EMC concept. Electromagnetic interferences represent a rather complex problem. Conducted interference can be measured either between phases or between the phase/neutral conductor. The type of interference can also be identified as symmetrical interference or as "Differential Mode Interference". Otherwise interference can also occur between the phase/neutral conductor and earth potential. In this case we talk about asymmetrical interference of "Common Mode Interference".
