Wireless technology has come a long way since the development of wireless signaling techniques in the late 1800s. Today, wireless technologies of many types are used in a variety of applications ranging from garage door openers to satellite communications. The fundamental process of sending data through a wireless medium is the same regardless of the technology used. Data is piggybacked or encoded onto a carrier wave through a process known as modulation.

Signal Converters
Signal converters contain inputs for one type of signal and outputs of another. Features can also include filtering and amplification or attenuation.
Frequency-to-Current Converters
Frequency-to-current converters accept a frequency (an AC signal) and produce an output current whose value is a function of the input frequency.
Voltage Converters and Voltage Inverters
Voltage converters and voltage inverters accept voltage input and provide a scaled voltage output. Conversion types include scaling up a low-level signal, voltage doubling, and inversion (converting a positive voltage to negative and vice versa).
Frequency-to-Voltage Converters
Frequency-to-voltage converters accept a signal and convert its frequency to a corresponding analog voltage level.
Voltage-to-Frequency Converters
Voltage-to-frequency converters accept a voltage signal and convert its analog level to a signal with a corresponding frequency.

What is Radio The ability to communicate via radio has changed dramatically over the past 5 years. Some people make money with these changes, some fear them and almost all people benefit from them.

This appendix discusses wireless communications via concepts, a brief history, and an overview of wireless communications systems. B.1 Wireless Communications Basics This section describes a...

Developing WPANs through the 802.15 Architecture Wireless personal area networks (WPANs) are networks that occupy the space surrounding an individual or device, typically involving a 10m radius.

In many ways the technologies underlying train communications systems have advanced little in the time since the first modern rail systems were established 200 years ago. Many rail networks still use...

Different modulation schemes have been adopted for radio services, such as broadband AM and FM for broadcast, narrowband FM for line-of-site two-way voice communications, single sideband (SSB) for...
