From General Magnaplate Corporation
Magnaplate coatings are applied to substrates in a multi-step system that starts with a series of specialized cleaning treatments. The substrate's surface is then enhanced by conversion, deposition, thermal spray, or a blend-matrix of all three processes, depending on the coating to be applied. The process continues with a controlled infusion of engineered polymers or other dry-lubricating particles and/or metals.
The critical difference between Magnaplate coatings and other types (such as paint-ons), is that the particles in the Magnaplate coatings become an integral part of the substrate. The particles are mechanically bonded and the resulting new surface layer therefore cannot chip, flake, peel or rub off.
Because these coatings create metal surfaces that are superior in performance to both the original base metal and to the components of the coatings, Magnaplate surface enhancements are said to be "synergistic."
