About

Photron was founded in 1974 to provide manufacturing, sales and service of professional film and video equipment and high speed photo- instrumentation. Since then, Photron has been offering slow motion digital technologies to manufacturing, the medical field, major movie and television studios, as well as to the automotive, medical, R&D communities and military test ranges worldwide. The company name "PHOTRON" combines photon and electron, the basic elements that represent our state-of-the-art technologies.

Photron's varied high speed imaging product range makes it the first choice for designers, manufacturers, R&D and test engineers to solve their most challenging motion problems. Whether it's testing a new product design or piece of equipment, or being able to see and understand some high speed phenomena that occurs too fast for the eye to see, Photron's digital camera systems can capture hundreds, thousands or hundreds of thousands of high resolution images per second for slow motion playback and analysis. And with Photron Fastcam Analysis (PFA) software, users can automatically track the motion of any point within a recorded sequence. Photron's continuing development of new state-of-the-art products shows our commitment to furthering research and development in the areas of digital imaging and motion analysis solutions.

Photron's latest range of high speed cameras include the Fastcam SA-Z which provides mega pixel resolution to 21,000 frames per second (fps) with reduced resolution operation to over two million frames per second, and the compact, high-G Fastcam Mini UX100 that provides full 1,280 by 1,024 12-bit pixel resolution to 4,000 fps, 720 HD (1,280 by 720 pixels) to 6,400 fps in a package size small enough to be handheld and yet rugged enough to operate reliable in the millisecond violence of a car crash or explosion.

Photron is a proud partner with Photonics Online: Digital Marketplace for the photonics industry.

Experimental studies on the deformation and rupture of thin metal plates subject to underwater shock wave loading (Machine Vision Equipment) In this paper, the dynamic deformation and rupture of thin metal plates subject to underwater shock wave loading are studied by using high-speed 3D digital image correlation (3D-DIC). An equivalent... (View Full Article)
