About

Company History

Shepard Niles was founded in 1878, and they built their first crane around 1902. Since then, the name Shepard Niles has come to mean unrelenting quality, reliability and long life in material handling. Workhorse cranes and hoists that last virtually forever– this is what industry expects from Shepard Niles. Their custom hand-built, heavy-duty Class D and E cranes and hoists helped America become the world's leading industrial nation, and powered the country through two World Wars.

Today's Shepard Niles

At Shepard Niles, they have a tradition of doing things right. They are as committed today as they were 130 years ago to supplying their customers with some of the toughest heavy-duty Class H4 and H5 hoists and hot metal hoists around. It’s common knowledge in the lifting industry that Shepard Niles equipment lasts ‘practically forever.’ To keep it that way, they offer only genuine OEM replacement parts for every Shepard Niles crane and hoist ever sold. Shepard Niles has an extensive inventory that ensures that they can ship most of the standard replacement parts in 1 to 3 days. They also provide their customers with the best service and product warranty available anywhere.

Shepard Niles hot metal hoists are a favorite of among some of the top foundry and metal processing companies in the world today.

Combined with their unequaled commitment to customer service, Shepard Niles provides their customers with a knowledge base built on experience. Their customer service team are not just "order takers". They can assist with everything from basic trouble-shooting to developing a critical spares inventory so routine maintenance is handled quickly and down-time is limited.

With new equipment budgets being reduced, Shepard Niles also offers a solution that most Material Handling manufacturers don't - an equipment and component rebuilding service. While most material handling equipment is replaced after a few years, Shepard Niles equipment can, in most cases, be rebuilt to "good-as-new" condition. This can save thousands of dollars when compared to buying a new piece of equipment rated the same.
