Advantages of Ceramic Plungers
Featured Product from 3X Ceramic Parts Company Limited
The plunger pump is a type of pump that uses the reciprocating motion of a plunger within the pump cylinder to create a volume change between the plunger and the pump wall, thereby repeatedly drawing in and discharging liquids and increasing their pressure. It is an important tool in many fields such as hydraulic presses, construction machinery, oil extraction and ships. The plunger, as a major structural component in a plunger pump, is generally made of metals such as steel. During operation, the plunger needs to withstand the corrosion of the liquid medium and wear during use. Grooves and corrosion points will gradually form on the surface of the plunger, resulting in poor sealing between the plunger and the cavity and reducing the efficiency of the plunger pump.
It adopts modern engineering ceramic materials and is assembled into a ceramic plunger through ceramic metallization bonding, welding, inlaying and nesting techniques. It is an ideal alternative product to similar metal pumps. So, what are the characteristics of ceramic plungers?
1. Reliability
As is well known, the reliability of the plunger has a certain impact on the efficiency of the pump and may even lead to mechanical failures of the pump body. Ceramic plungers feature wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance and high hardness. Compared with metal plungers, ceramic plungers are more reliable. The fit accuracy between the shaft core and the outer sleeve of the ceramic plunger can reach '±0.001mm', and the surface finish can achieve a mirror-like effect, thereby reducing the friction coefficient and prolonging the service life of the plunger.
2. Lubricity
Traditional metal plunger pumps require the addition of lubricants during operation to reduce the friction between the plunger components and the pump cavity. The ceramic plunger adopts a unique processing method. The micro-porous structure on its surface has a good smoothness and self-lubricating effect, which changes the sliding friction and lubrication mechanism of the traditional plunger pump and can significantly reduce the adverse effects caused by the use of lubricants.
3. Cleanliness
After the plunger has been in normal use for a period of time, it needs to be cleaned to ensure that it does not cause any adverse effects on the pump body. However, traditional plunger designs all have dead corners, grooves or unsmoothness, which causes great difficulties for the cleaning of plunger pumps. The fluid structure and dead corner grooves on the inner cavity surface of the ceramic plunger. The inner cavity surface and the plunger surface are processed to a mirror finish by advanced high-precision internal and external cylindrical grinding machines. The outer surface is vibratically polished to enhance the smoothness of the plunger surface and facilitate the cleaning and washing of the plunger.
4. Safety
The ceramic plunger products have undergone safety performance tests for corrosion resistance and acid and alkali resistance. All its indicators have reached the level standards of similar foreign products.
