The new UNE-EN ISO 13855:2025 specifies the requirements for the positioning of protective measures with respect to the approach of the human body toward hazards within the intended control reach:
- The position and dimensions of the detection zone of electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE), pressure-sensitive mats, and pressure-sensitive floors.
- The position of two-hand control devices and single control devices.
- The position of guards with interlocking devices.
When assessing the ability of the human body or its parts to access safety-related machinery control devices (SRMCD) from within the intended protective space, the requirements of this document also apply for determining the dimensions of the protective measures.
The protective measures covered by this document include:
- Electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE)
- Pressure-sensitive mats and floors
- Two-handed control devices
- Single control devices
- Guards with interlocking devices
