What is CODESYS 4?

CODESYS 4 is a new, web-based development environment for IEC 61131-3 programming. As a lean, platform-independent tool, it complements the proven CODESYS Development System 3, initially for library development in Structured Text. Following its initial release in September 2026, additional features will be added on an ongoing basis.

Platform-independent use in any web browser

The technical infrastructure runs independently of the operating system on any platform, such as desktop PCs, corporate servers, the cloud, and in the future even directly on high-performance controllers. The actual project configuration takes place in standard web browsers—on PCs running Windows, Linux, or macOS, or on tablets and smartphones running Android or iOS.

Designed for automated development processes (CI/CD)

Compile your CODESYS project and upload it to the controller without having to launch the development interface. The text-based project repository of the source code, as well as the command-line interface of CODESYS 4, are ideal for automated build processes with integrations to version control tools such as Git®.
