SCM5B48 – IEPE / ICP® Sensor Input Module
The SCM5B48 module provides constant current excitation and signal conditioning for piezoelectric sensors with built-in microelectronic amplifiers—commonly known as ICP®, IEPE, or LIVM sensors. It delivers a regulated excitation current to the sensor, then isolates, filters, and amplifies the signal to produce a high-level ±10V analog output.
Field-configurable slide switches allow selection of excitation current (4mA or 9mA), gain (1, 10, or 100), and high-pass/low-pass filter cutoff frequencies.
A six-pole signal filter provides over 100dB of normal-mode rejection above the cutoff frequency. One pole on the field side offers anti-aliasing protection, while a five-pole programmable Bessel filter on the system side ensures excellent time-domain response. A second-order high-pass filter removes low-frequency drift and noise.
To protect valuable DAQ equipment, all signal inputs and sensor excitation outputs are protected to 240Vrms continuous. The module operates from a +5VDC ±5% supply and provides 1500Vrms transformer isolation between input and output.
