Douglas Electrical Components manufactures hermetic electrical feedthroughs using CF (ConFlat®) flanges to provide reliable vacuum sealing for demanding applications. CF flanges use a clamping mechanism that compresses a copper gasket between the chamber wall and the feedthrough, creating a strong hermetic seal while reducing issues caused by tightening compared to jamnut-style vacuum face seal designs. Mounted from the atmospheric side of the chamber, these feedthroughs offer improved accessibility and secure installation.

CF flange feedthroughs support a wide range of electrical connections, including connectors, wires, cables, optical fibers, and circuits. Douglas’ epoxy sealing technology allows for high-density feedthroughs and the integration of multiple electrical interfaces within a single flange, helping reduce system cost, save space, and simplify installation. This can include anything from thermocouple wires to fully connectorized harnesses with shielding, strain relief, and protective sleeves.

These feedthroughs also offer flexibility by allowing different electrical interfaces on each side of the chamber, making it easier to optimize power and signal transmission for specific vacuum system requirements. Customers often combine connectors with integral wires to streamline chamber installation and maintenance.

Douglas supports numerous connector types, including MIL-spec connectors, D-sub, Micro-D, Nano-D, coaxial connectors, thermocouples, USB, RJ-45 Ethernet, and more. With operating temperatures from 4 K to 200°C, helium leak rates below 1×10?? cc/sec, and fast lead times, CF flange feedthroughs provide a compact, high-performance solution for vacuum environments.
