With Open Loop pressure control systems, it’s typical to experience regulator droop and decaying inlet effect. These changes in pressure require having a person involved to regulate and make corrections. With the ER5000, the control algorithm is done for you, eliminating the work of programming a PLC — (and) removing human error while improving quality, uniformity and efficiency.

Here’s how.  The ER5000 compares a set-point signal to a feedback signal every 25 milliseconds or 16 times in a blink of an eye.  After each comparison, two normally closed solenoid valves are pulse-width modulated based on the amount of error between the set-point (the signal telling the controller what pressure is desired in the line) and the feedback signal (the signal telling the controller what the actual pressure is in the line).

If a set-point in pressure is greater than zero, the ER5000 opens the inlet valve. If less than zero, the exhaust valve is opened. If the pressure needs no adjustment, both remain closed.

Here’s a typical pressure reducing application where we see the feedback signal coming from a transducer in the controlled pressure line, and the setpoint signal coming from a computer, PLC or potentiometer. This automated pressure control enables incredible precision that is consistent and repeatable, reaching the desired fill levels or pressure requirements.
