Oil-Free Ceramic Pressure Sensing Technology
Featured Product from Endress + Hauser – Sensors & Components
Reliable pressure measurement for demanding applications
In applications such as water treatment, laboratory equipment, medical devices, and industrial process systems, pressure sensors must provide accurate measurements while maintaining process integrity. Pressure overloads, corrosive media, and contamination risks can challenge conventional sensing technologies and affect long-term performance.
Ceracore pressure sensing technology from Endress+Hauser addresses these challenges through an oil-free capacitive ceramic measuring principle. Unlike traditional pressure sensors that use oil-filled measuring cells, Ceracore measuring cells directly detect pressure using a ceramic sensing element. This eliminates the risk of process contamination caused by fill fluids in the event of diaphragm damage.
Oil-free capacitive measurement principle
The ceramic substrate and diaphragm contain integrated electrodes that form a capacitor. When pressure is applied, the diaphragm deflects, changing the capacitance. This change is converted into an accurate pressure measurement signal.
By eliminating fill fluids, Ceracore technology supports applications where product purity, process safety, and regulatory compliance are critical requirements.
High resistance for aggressive media
Ceracore measuring cells are manufactured from 99.9% aluminum oxide (Al?O?) ceramic. This high-purity material offers excellent resistance to many aggressive and corrosive process media while maintaining dimensional stability over extended operating periods.
The robust ceramic diaphragm design helps ensure reliable performance in applications exposed to wastewater, chemicals, and other demanding industrial media.
