Epilog Laser Launches Epilog Pulse: New App allows users to control equipment through Mac operating systems.
Epilog Laser, the leading producer of CO2 and fiber laser engraving, cutting, and marking systems, is excited to announce the company has developed a new application, Epilog Pulse, which allows users to control their equipment from nearly any device – including those with Mac operating systems – without having to install anything.
“This revolutionary enhancement has been a long time coming,” said Mike Dean, vice president of sales and marketing for Epilog Laser. “This new app is a game-changer in the laser processing space as it enables our users to send jobs to the laser from their Mac, PC, or tablet – any device where you can access a browser.”
How does it work?
Connect the laser to your device in one of three ways: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB. Set-up instructions for all three are accessible in the user’s manual. Once the user follows the appropriate instructions for their device, they open a web browser window, type in the IP address of the laser, and hit enter. The app loads automatically, and users can then import various files and send them to the laser for processing. Since it is not a cloud-based app, Pulse can operate without an internet connection.
“MacOS is the second most-used OS in the country, gathering just under 30 percent of the market share,” Dean explained, ”and while our MacOS customers could find suitable workarounds using Parallels® Desktop, we wanted to address this growing audience better and more directly. Epilog Pulse does exactly that.”
File Compatibility:
Currently supported file formats are: SVG, GIF, BMP, JPEG, PNG, and TIFF. Operators can use nearly any software, such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW that allows them to export graphics as those file formats.
Pulse Interface
The user interface on Epilog Pulse is extremely user-friendly and offers several features. Once a file is started or image is imported operators can ungroup, magnify, rotate, invert graphics, split or merge cutting and engraving processes, undo and redo actions, and save processes settings for future use. This initial release of Epilog Pulse does have additional enhancement plans for the future.
The firmware containing the Epilog Pulse feature is now in production machines shipping from the Epilog factory. Those who want to upgrade their Fusion Maker, Fusion Edge, or Fusion Pro firmware to include this enhancement should upgrade their firmware on the Epilog website.
