Connector Gage Kits
Featured Product from Maury Microwave
In any test and measurement setup superior electrical performance starts with properly mated connectors at every connection point. Proper mating can only be achieved when the mechanical dimensions and positioning of the connectors' center conductors are correct and accurate. If the center conductors are recessed or protrude beyond specified tolerances they will not mate properly. Mating connectors with recessed center conductors results in a "gap fit" which can seriously degrade electrical performance. Mating connectors with protruding center conductors forces them into misalignment, resulting in an "interference fit" that not only degrades electrical performance, but can also cause severe damage to the connectors. Damage to connectors on expensive test equipment can be costly to repair - in money and equipment down-time. Because of this, it is essential to always check the pin depth and position of every connector you use - before mating.
Maury's connector gage kits provide an easy to use, direct reading, self-checking, and accurate way to measure the critical linear interface dimensions of most coaxial connectors. These kits consist of gages with specially adapted dial or digital indicators, plus the correct bushings and pins to allow mating with specified connectors. A master setting gage from the kit is used to adjust the dial or digital indicator to zero, before a push-on or thread-on gage is mated with a connector. When mated the gage will measure the distance from a given interface (female or male contact location) to the outer conductor mating plane.
Although Maury gages are normally sold as kits, individual gages, components, replacement parts, and calibration services are also available.
