Secondary Assembly
Service Detail from Osborne Industries, Inc.
Osborne Industries is an OEM supplier of thermoset molded parts utilizing Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) and Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) processes. Osborne Industries has over 35 years in the custom molding business and can produce high-quality parts that meet your strictest tolerances and specifications. Osborne Industries has 240,000 sq. ft of manufacturing space, which includes a machine shop, mold and pattern shop, electronics production and fully equipped quality-assurance lab. One way Osborne Industries distinguishes itself in the custom molding business is by performing additional services that make part installation easier for the OEM manufacturer.
One service is secondary assembly. In some cases, OEM composite parts require assembly prior to shipping. One example is a cotton picker blower housing. The blower housing is molded in two pieces using Resin Transfer Molding (RTM). Once molded, the two halves are bonded and bolted together and hardware components are installed. This service speeds up part installation for the OEM. Another advantage is it frees up valuable space and resources for the OEM plant.
Additional secondary functions Osborne Industries can perform include:
- CNC routing (hole drilling, shaping, finishing, etc.)
- Bonding (i.e. steps, brackets, etc.)
- Polishing and finishing
- Installation of nutserts
