Membrane Switches
Service Detail from Quantaflex Printed Electronics Inc.
Membrane switches are created using multiple layers of polyester or polycarbonate, adhesives, and printed circuitry. The top layer typically serves as a graphic overlay, displaying logos and relevant information to the user. These interfaces can feature tactile or non-tactile buttons, which may be embossed for improved feel and usability. Embedded LEDs can be incorporated as indicator lights, and backlighting may be added to enhance visibility in low-light environments. Each interface is custom-made to virtually any size or shape, with a typical thickness of about 0.035 inches—additional spacers can be included as needed. Because all components are self-contained, the design minimizes the need for extra circuit boards and reduces overall panel thickness, offering a cost-effective alternative to mechanical switches and touchscreens.
