GlobalSpec Quality, Test & Measurement Online Trade Show and Event Draws More Than 1,300 Attendees

92 percent of engineering, technical and industrial professionals at GlobalSpec virtual event are decision makers

East Greenbush, NY (March 1, 2012) – The “Quality, Test & Measurement” online trade show and event on February 22, 2012 hosted by GlobalSpec drew more than 1,300 participants, with 92 percent of attendees reporting they are decision makers within their organizations. The free virtual conference is now available on demand to give engineers and industrial professionals easy access to educational presentations and industry-leading supplier resources from the live-day event.

GlobalSpec’s “Quality, Test & Measurement” event provided educational opportunities to learn about the latest technology developments impacting quality control, product inspection, test, and measurement. Attendees also had the chance to share ideas with industry experts about quality standards and compliance testing; chat with suppliers about defect prevention and analysis; and participate in key educational forums.

Not only did industrial professionals take advantage of great learning and networking opportunities, but this online event also provided them the convenience of meeting with industrial suppliers right from their desktop without leaving the office or having to budget for travel expenses.

“At our Quality, Test & Measurement event, attendees heard from speakers with fresh ideas and learned about the latest technologies in this industry,” said Donna Lewis, vice president of e-publishing and e-events for GlobalSpec. “For the suppliers that participated in the event, this was a tremendous opportunity to get in front of their target audience to promote their brand, showcase new products and establish their thought leadership.”

Speakers and topics at the event included:

  • A Holistic View of Quality – Manufacturers are increasingly challenged by global outsourcing and fragmented supply networks. Undetected quality issues are revealed through the ballooning costs of defects, scrap, and inspection, which in turn drain margins and add delivery and warranty costs to the final product. This presentation discussed a unique cloud-based approach for managing critical suppliers across your global supply network.
Presented by Nader Fathi, General Manager, Supply Chain Quality, Camstar Systems, Inc.
  • Quality Control in Real Time: Moving Lab Measurements to the Production Line – Integrating quality testing into the production line enables real-time process monitoring. Non-contact optical testing is an established technology for topography and thickness measurements in the laboratory. These methods are also transferable to in-line applications. This presentation discussed optical measurement techniques and how they can improve production.
Presented by Heidi Olson, Optical Sales Engineer, Precitec, Inc.
  • Using HART Diagnostic Information to Improve Instrument Calibration – HART™ protocol transmitters and similar devices have become successful as a result of their reliability and stability, but some problems are common. The problems can be solved with the right tools, but they are expensive and challenging to use. This presentation described the attributes of a dedicated, low-cost troubleshooting tool that would be a boon to technicians and engineers.
Presented by Bill Modlin, Vice President, Martel Corporation
  • Today’s Flexible Multi-purpose Optical Inspection Technology – Today’s ever-increasing manufacturing process challenges are being supported by a new breed of low-cost, automated, optical inspection solutions. A single platform can now support in-bound part & first article inspection, process setup, process control, and full product traceability. Embracing this new technology gives manufacturers a competitive edge.
Presented by Bill Loving, President & CEO, ScanCAD, Inc.
