GlobalSpec to Release Results from Electronics Distributors Survey at EDS 2012

Research provides an understanding of how distributors meet the needs of customers in the electronics sector

East Greenbush, NY (May 3, 2012) – The top three methods electronics professionals use to find new distributors are all online resources making it critical that distributors develop a broad Internet presence and not just on their own Web site. To meet the stated needs of these professionals, electronics distributors should provide technical specifications, pricing information, a searchable catalog and up-to-date content on their Web sites.

Those are just two of the highlights from the GlobalSpec Electronics Distributors Survey that asked the engineering, technical, manufacturing, and industrial professionals who specify and purchase electronics products to describe how and how often they use electronics distributors, rank the importance of various attributes of distributors, and identify which distributors best exemplify important attributes.

The survey, conducted by GlobalSpec, a leading provider of digital media solutions for suppliers and distributors seeking exposure to engineers, manufacturers and technical professionals with a focus on electronics engineering and design, provides an understanding of how distributors meet the needs of customers in the electronics marketplace.

“If your target audience is the professionals who specify and purchase electronics products, you need to build your brand visibility and have a strong online presence beyond your own Web site” said Chris Chariton, senior vice president, product management & supplier marketing for GlobalSpec. “Specifiers and purchasers have a large mix of suppliers to choose from so it is of paramount importance that distributors understand what their prospects and customers look for in a distributor and how they become aware of them.”

The results of the GlobalSpec Electronics Distributors Survey have been compiled and analyzed in a research report that includes recommendations on how electronics distributors can better meet their customers’ needs. This report will be released at EDS 2012, the premier annual event for the electronics industry, which will take place May 7-10 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Following the event, the report will be available for download at no charge from
